Travelling the world is one of the best things you can do in order to learn about life. I have learned so much over the last few years and this is one of the reasons why I would recommend to anyone that they travel as much as they can.
My parents taught me a lot about life when I was younger but the following are a few of the things which travelling has taught me and which they couldn’t.
We Are All Basically the Same
It is fine telling a kid that people all are the same under the skin but that isn’t what it looks like on the television or in magazines. I had assumed that people from different countries and cultures thought differently and had no real relation to my life. However, once I started travelling I discovered that this just wasn’t true. I have made some terrific friends in different countries and I have come to understand that things like a similar sense of humour and a shared taste in fashion or music can be enough to build a bridge between two people with apparently nothing in common. As you travel from one country to another the people you meet are going to be one of the big reasons for enjoying the experience and wanting to do it again.
Problems Happen Sometimes
I have been lucky in that I have not run into any major problems on my trips abroad so far. Sure, I have missed connections, ran out of money and got lost. However, I have never been robbed or got into trouble with the law. I know some travellers who have had unfortunate experiences and in most cases it wasn’t their fault. You need to do all you can to stay out of trouble but if problems happen you need to do something about them instead of just regretting them. Getting a good personal injury legal service like that offered by Irwin Mitchell is a good example of how you can deal with a setback.
You Learn from Good and Bad Experiences
Some of the biggest lessons I have learned on my travels came from things going wrong and other came from things going exactly how I planned. There is no secret formula which says that you will only learn from disasters or that you will only learn from the good things that happen. You need to approach every new experience as an opportunity to learn and to grow as a person. If you do this then you will learn a lot as you travel.
Everything is Memorable in One Way or Another
The good times I have had in different countries is something I look back on fondly. I also look back fondly on the bad times, though. Every single thing you do when you are out of the country and living the dream is memorable in one way or another. Just try and take it all in and build up your special memories for the future no matter what happens.
