Cruising the Seas: The Carnival Ecstasy

I’ve been so busy lately that I knew I needed a time off to replenish my energy. So I decided to take a relaxing cruise to the Caribbean. I found the perfect ship and the best tour package for me off the internet. I picked the Carnival Ecstasy because its travel times went well with my available schedule, and I love going to Miami. And just like that, I had booked myself a five-day tour of the Caribbean on a massive ship.

Leaving Florida

I arrived at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale for the boarding. I had my papers on the ready and headed to the terminal for check-in. I saw the cruise ships docked at the port, some preparing to depart on their journey, others just arriving. The vessels all lined up were quite a magnificent sight. The scene looked like an artwork, with so much grandeur and elegance in it.

Touring the Ship

The first time I set foot on the ship I was awed. It was just so big. How could something so huge not sink on water? But anyway, I boarded the ship, and headed to my room. My room had the ocean view, with windows that overlook the ocean. The Ecstasy actually has four types of accommodations. These are the Interior, Ocean View, Balcony and Suite rooms.

After I got my things unpacked, I started touring the ship. Riding the lift or elevator, I could see the Grand Atrium in all its grandeur. Man, this ship did not spare any expense on its amenities. It’s really like a big, big mall. I verified my destination at the information desk and booked myself on some of their excursion packages.

Fun and Excitement

The Ecstasy offers so many entertainment facilities; I had a bit of a difficulty trying to keep up with them all, though I did try my hardest to. I had so much fun riding the Twister water slide. The feeling of jubilation I got as I wiggled inside the tube slide was delightful. I also swam in the outdoor pool, and had a chance to use one of the Ecstasy’s four whirlpools.

Dinnertimes were all very memorable thanks to the exceptional food and service. There were so many restaurants to choose from. Whatever cuisine one may fancy, he can find in this ship. After the scrumptious and filling meals, I burned the fats dancing it out at the Stripes Dance Club. Another leisure area is the Blue Sapphire Theatre that presents Vegas-inspired shows.

Rest and Relaxation

To relieve the stress, I tried the therapeutic body massages, and got all dolled up at the beauty salon at the Spa carnival. There is also a steam room in the spa. At night, just listening to the piano playing in the Neon Piano bar soothes and relaxes me.

Port of Call

I enjoyed the spectacles of the ship, but I also loved the port of Nassau in the Bahamas, one of the destination stop-overs of the Carnival Ecstasy. I was astonished to see the shore with full of people on boats waiting for the tourists. I had booked, ahead of time, for snorkeling sessions and a water taxi ride around Paradise Island. They were both exhilarating activities. I got to witness and appreciate so much natural beauty. Learning that the New Providence was once called the Pirates Republic made me, a history geek, shiver in delight.

I had the time of my life on board the Carnival Ecstasy. It was such a relaxing yet invigorating experience. What better way is there to cruise the seas than on a floating megamall?
